The varsity has initiated a project to build a separate Research Scholar Complex in its campus, equipped with all necessary conveniences, to lodge eminent guests
"There will be a total of 24 suites, each equipped with a bedroom, living room and balcony. Other facilities include conference hall, restaurant and laundry." With these words, RV Patil, executive engineer of University of Pune's estate department, spelt out the academy's plan to do away with the long-pending problem of lack of adequate facilities on the campus to accommodate distinguished guests, especially scientists and research scholars of national and international repute, who visit the varsity for official reasons.
UoP has initiated a project to build a separate Research Scholar Complex in its campus, equipped with all necessary conveniences. The design of this proposed ground plus two-storey building has already been finalised by a reputed architectural firm, and work will commence soon.
"The university is making consistent efforts to increase communication with the research fraternity across the globe. The number of people paying a visit to the varsity is also increasing. If we invite some guests, it is essential to provide them adequate residential facility. Hence, we have started work on this complex," said Dr WN Gade, vice-chancellor, UoP.
"Even though we have a guesthouse and we do reserve some of its rooms for these visitors, on many occasions we have no option but to request them to stay in the adjacent government institute YASHADA, which has good facilities. But the proposed project will end this problem," Gade told MiD DAY.
