New Delhi: Acrimonious scenes were witnessed in the Lok Sabha Monday as opposition parties protested the conversion issue and RJD MP Pappu Yadav allegedly threw a paper at Deputy Speaker M. Thambidurai

As the Lok Sabha reconvened after an adjournment over the conversion issue, opposition parties demanded a reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the matter.

However, when Thambidurai went ahead with the scheduled business, opposition members trooped near the speaker's podium and started shouting slogans demanding a statement from Modi.

In the din, the Rashtriya Janata Dal MP allegedly threw some paper at the speaker's chair.

Thambidurai then adjourned the house for 10 minutes.

When the house reconvened, the deputy speaker reprimanded Yadav saying this kind of behaviour was not acceptable.

The RJD MP, however, refuted the charge.

"I did not tear any paper, did not even go near the speaker's (podium)," he told reporters outside parliament.
