Senior Noida police officials contradict each other over date of arrest of robbers involved in a Rs 1-crore heist
It seems the Noida police can't stop but mess up facts while probing a case.
In a recent goof-up, two senior cops from Noida were caught contradicting each other on the arrest of five criminals in a Rs 1-crore robbery.
The police arrested five armed car-borne miscreants who shot at and looted Rs 1 crore from a property dealer near Usmanpur village on July 28. Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida, AK Singh claims the miscreants were arrested on August 9. But according to Superintendent of Police, Rural Area, SK Verma , the five were nabbed on the day of the robbery itself.u00a0
According to Singh, the accused were identified as Dharmendra, Dinesh, Ashok, Jasveer and Sanjeev. He said, "We were suspecting Dharmendra as he was known to the victim and was involved in financial transactions with him. We kept an eye on him for a long time and gathered information about his whereabouts. On August 9, we raided his place and arrested the others as well."
But Verma, who is in charge of Greater Noida, said, "We had nabbed the robbers on July 28 and started interrogating them."
However, Verma's statement raises a crucial question. If the miscreants were arrested on the day of the crime, why have they not being presented in court yet?
The robbery took place around 1 pm on July 28 when the victim, Chatar Singh, of Vilaspur locality in Noida, was on his way to the office of the district registrar with six others for a land deal.
His vehicle was intercepted by an Esteem car near Usmanpur village and a group of armed men snatched his bag containing Rs 1 crore at gunpoint. The victim has also alleged that the police registered a case of robbery worth Rs 80 lakh, though he had lost Rs 1 crore. To support his claim, Chatar showed bank documents from where the money was withdrawn.
