SC dismisses Amarinder's petition against Badal

The Supreme Court on dismissed the petition filed by Congress leader Amarinder Singh seeking shifting of the trial of corruption cases against Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and his family members outside the state.


The Supreme Court on dismissed the petition filed by Congress leader Amarinder Singh seeking shifting of the trial of corruption cases against Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and his family members outside the state.

The case against Badal, his wife and son Sukhbir Singh Badal was registered in 2002 when Amarinder Singh was the chief minister.

A bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan said that by the material placed on record, Singh has not made out a case that there was a reasonable apprehension of getting justice if the trial was held in the state.

Amarinder Singh had sought the transfer of the case from a special court in Mohali in Punjab to any other state.
