Love is in the air, and on web too. It is not only the most searched word for the lovers this year, but has also made the small town netizens glued for hours to woo the special one.

With Valentines Day round the corner, people are searching for 'love' online. The race is immense to the extent that people from tier two and tier three cities have left metros far behind in terms of search percentage. The smitten ones are leaving no stone unturned in the states like Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab - sealing the top three slots respectively. While the lovers in metros do not seem to be looking for virtual options, and are lagging at the last numbers of the tally. Delhi is struggling at the eight position followed by Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Said a senior official at Google: "The search percentage was quite surprising, and it indicates how the small towns have overtaken metros. This time users are not only looking for the gift items, but also for love quotes, poems and songs among others."
