PCRs get new GPS-enabled radio through which they can be tracked
Cops in Gurgaon can no longer sleep at work. If they do, they will be spotted out by their seniors keeping an eye on them from the central control room.
The Gurgaon police has equipped its entire fleet of Police Control Room (PCR) jeeps, motorcycles and patrol parties with Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) systems enabled with Global Positioning System (GPS).
With this hi-tech device, it will now be possible to monitor the exact location of the policemen out in the field at any point of time.
The system will also help the police track any person who calls up the emergency 100 number by using the Advance Vehicle Location System.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, Manjit Singh Ahlawat, said, "We are going hi-tech to ensure discipline in the department. This technology will ensure better coordination among our officials as well."
