A 14-year-old boy suffered severe injuries when he came in contact with a high tension wire on the roof of a government building in Saraswati Vihar area of northwest district.u00a0
According to a police officer, Rohit was playing cricket in a park in the locality and had gone to fetch the ball from the roof of the building when the mishap occurred.
"When one of his friends hit the ball onto the roof of the building, Rohit was asked to retrieve it. But when he went to fetch the ball he came in contact with a high tension wire. He suffered severe burns and shouted for help.
His friends called the neighbours who informed the police.u00a0 Rohit was taken to a nearby hospital where his condition deteriorated after which he was referred to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. He is undergoing treatment there and his condition is stated to be critical. Doctors told us that he had received 60 per cent burn injuries," said a senior police officer.
Meanwhile, a local resident told this reporter that last year a child was electrocuted in the area when he accidentally touched the same high tension wire.
