the strokes or the signature? The answers could be many, but we bet it's anything but the size. The dimensions, the physical ones, are often missed amid the finer, more abstract details, but sometimes, it has a far larger role to play. Take for instance, 'Size Matters or Does It,' an exhibition that wants to 'figure' out the beauty of miniature forms vis-u00e0-vis larger ones.u00a0
The big and small of itThe show, through various sizes, focusses on the relevance of dimensions. Each participating artist has contributed two worksu00a0-- a very large work, juxtaposed with a small-format work. Those who've opened themselves to the aesthetic experimentation are Arunkumar HG, Baiju Parthan, Chittrovanu Mazumdar, Dilip Chobisa, G R Iranna, Jayshree Chakravarty, Manjunath Kamath, Pooja Iranna, Pushpamala N, Sarnath Banerjee, Prajakta Palav and Siddhartha Kararwal, to name a few.
Clay play and more
Among the various creations that will be displayed, those noteworthy are Arunkumar's work, titled 'Does Size Matter,' made from clay wood and plastic gears. It is an interesting and interactive artwork, consisting of miniature clay toys placed on a platform controlled with gears.
On the other hand, Manjunath Kamath has made twelve small works, each in au00a0 in 5x4 inch frame. These, he symbolically calls, a 'series of twelve small lies'. But in essence, they're as truly magnificent as it gets. "A lie is one of the strongest palliatives that the humans have adopted to make life easier. The size may varyu2026 big lies, small lies, but they are omnipresent. Through my works, I probe the origin, growth and nature of lies in our society," she explains.
Baiju Parthan subverts the idea of fixed measurements with the microscopic details of a fly in his twin works, titled Ointment. You need it.
