The Guide catches up with Yogesh Baldora of Fireweavers whose play, IT Professional, will be staged at Ambedkar Bhavan this week
Picture this. You work in an IT firm, bored stiff by your job and you've been shopping every weekend after weekend for 4 years. Your only break from the monotony is salsa classes. This was what Yogesh Baldora was going through when he jumped headlong into forming Fireweavers, a dramatics and filmmaking community in Pune. And, ever since they have been creating entertainment for the city's theatre lovers.
A still from IT Professional
Literally weaving fire with the magic of their acting skills, this time they're back with their play IT Professional. As is obvious from its name, the trials and tribulations of an IT employee is what the play deals with. Which is actually familiar ground for him and his co-stars, for most of them are from this industry. Eight people of the 10 member caste have an IT background.
Yogesh had the idea while working in IT, but most laughed it off. "They said IT guys are boring. But I knew there is drama in every office. We often hear of IT people going abroad. And an insight I had was true talent is very often not recognized, and it flies away out of our country, " he says. The play's a comedy about office politics. "It's the story of a guy who does not know anything about finer workings of an office atmosphere. He is clueless about soft skills," relates Yogesh. The befuddled newbie is given tips by a colleague, which he ends up taking far too seriously. What is the outcome? You'll have to catch the play IT Professional to find out.
