28-year-old widow found dead inside home in UP's Pratapgarh, police begin probe

The body of a widow was found dead in her home under suspicious circumstances on Monday in Sarai Ugai Nevada village in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district, police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Kumar said on Monday that 28-year-old Fatima Bano had married Shabir eight years ago. Shabir died of an illness about two years ago.

At the time of the incident, Fatima was living at home with her two young daughters, aged six and four.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear.

The ASP said the exact circumstances and reasons behind Fatima's death have yet to be ascertained.

After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.

The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is received.

Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and after a formal complaint is lodged by her family or maternal relatives, police said.
