A London-bound Air India flight (AI171), carrying 242 people including crew and passengers, crashed shortly after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad at 1.39 pm. Several casualties have been reported in the horrific incident

The area around the crash site was densely filled with plane wreckage. Additionally, several cars and vehicles parked on the hospital-college grounds also caught fire

According to reports, the plane crashed directly into the hostel's dining hall. Therefore, many of those inside the dining area sustained injuries. As the plane crashed, local residents were the first on the scene, immediately trying to rescue both the plane's passengers and those in the building

Officials have confirmed that six teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and two teams from the Border Security Force (BSF) have been dispatched from Gandhinagar to the aircraft crash site in Ahmedabad on Thursday to carry out rescue and relief operations

The entire accident site was sealed off as operations began to rescue survivors and recover bodies. Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner GS Malik said a possibility of survivors in Thursday's Air India plane crash could not be ruled out. He confirmed that rescue operations are actively ongoing at the crash site in Meghaninagar, near the Ahmedabad International Airport

An officer from the federal force stated that two NDRF teams have arrived near the Ahmedabad Airport, four more on their way. Additionally, a Border Security Force (BSF) officer confirmed that two BSF teams from their frontier headquarters have also been sent to the accident site

The rescue operation involved personnel from the Army, Border Security Force (BSF), local police and State Reserve Police Force. Moreover, the staff members from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who are responsible for the airport's counter-terrorism measures, were among the first rescuers to arrive at the crash site, along with the local fire and police officials

Meanwhile, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) said it will investigate the plane crash incident
