A large number of supporters joined the CM in the rally
Senior ministers of the West Bengal Cabinet, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and grassroots workers took part in the demonstration, which was framed as a show of unity with Bengalis living outside West Bengal
Over the past few days, the party has pointed out several cases where they claim Bengali-speaking individuals were targeted in BJP-governed states
The TMC, led by Banerjee, has claimed that Bengali-speaking residents of Delhi's Jai Hind Colony, despite possessing valid documents and verified IDs, reportedly faced harassment, humiliation, and were wrongly labelled as 'illegal'
Wednesday's rally by the TMC aims to leverage this issue as a way to challenge the BJP, specifically in anticipation of the upcoming state elections scheduled for 2026
