PM Modi on Friday urged the women voters in West Bengal to support BJP in the second phase of the assembly polls, calling the ruling TMC an "anti-women" party
Addressing a campaign rally here, PM Modi said that BJP has a women-led development model and voting for the party will ensure freedom from TMC's "atrocities on daughters."
He also slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her remarks asking women to not step out late at night
Referring to the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case that shook the nation, PM Modi turned TMC responsible for the heinous crime. He also stated that his party made the mother of the victim a candidate
Debnath said that he appreciated her for "fighting with great courage"
Continuing his speech, PM said that following the formation of the BJP government in the state, the wrongdoers of the RG Kar case will be punished and women will be provided security, calling it "Modi's guarantee"
The rally drew huge crowds. The BJP and TMC are likely to be pitted in a tough contest in the state
"PM Modi told me that I am fighting with great courage. When I told him that I want justice for my daughter and want to reveal her name and picture, he put his hand on my head," said Debnath, speaking on her interaction with the PM
The polling for the second phase is scheduled on April 29, followed by the counting of votes on May 4.
