The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has officially split wide open in West Bengal. In an unprecedented rebellion rocking Kolkata, a staggering 60 out of 80 TMC MLAs completely boycotted an emergency meeting called at Mamata Banerjee’s residence. The civil war erupted over the high-stakes selection of the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) post. While Mamata Banerjee named close ally Sobhondeb Chattopadhyay, a massive faction of dissident lawmakers openly revolted, throwing their weight behind Ritabrata Banerjee—who was dramatically expelled from the party just a day prior.
