Rape victim's family feels Borude's death will keep the fourth accused's identity a mystery

The death of dismissed inspector Arun Borude, who was absconding after being accused of raping a minor, has greatly disappointed family members of the victim.

The family of the 15-year-old rape victim, who gave birth to a premature baby, wanted him to be alive, as one more accused who was well known to Borude is yet to be arrested in the case.

The victim's family members spoke to MiD DAY and said that they would do whatever it takes to ensure all the accused are arrested, even if they have to lose everything in theu00a0 process.

Borude was found dead near the railway tracks at Shrirampur city in Ahmednagar district yesterday and police are uncertain whether it was a case of murder or suicide.

According to them, Borude has been punished, but they would have preferred it if he was behind bars instead.
Farhana (name changed), sister of the victim, said, "We cannot believe that he has committed suicide.

A man like him cannot die this way. There is surely some thing that has been hidden.

I am happy that he has been punished, but I hoped he would be arrested and behind bars so that the fourth accused could have been apprehended too.

Two have been arrested and the third was Borude, but my sister said that four men raped her. Now the fourth man will remain a mystery."

The family, however, has not given up hope. "Even if we lose everything we will make sure that all those involved will be behind bars," said a family member.

Meanwhile, speaking of her sister, Farhana said, "We have just met her once as she is being counselled and looked after. The police do not allow us to meet her.

We are worried for her and her little daughter. The last time we saw her, she was crying and wanted to meet us, but the police did not allow it. We waited for her for 4 hours, but did not get to meet her."
