Alert residents of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) stopped a group of workers from transporting a couple of
felled trees out of the area last night.

Residents discovered unidentified workers chopping two trees behind the family court in BKC, and stopped the workers and called the police.

Locals claim that a pipeline was being laid in the area and the trees were being cut to make way for the construction.

When the cops reached the spot the situation had turned volatile with residents and contractors in a heated argument.

Police Inspector of BKC police station said, "The trees fell due to heavy rains and the contractors were clearing the road. The resident are creating an issue for no reason."

The cops tried to calm the residents and even escorted a few workers to the police station.

Raj Awasti, a resident, said, "In the morning the pipeline work was done. At night, we heard some noise and when came here, we witnessed that the trees are being cut down.

When we contacted to BKC police, they came and were inquiring us, instead of the supervisor."
