To kick off the eco-freindly campaign this year, participants to cycle from Juhu To Marine Drive on Dec 11
Every year efforts are made to save Mother Earth with the help of the Batti Bandh campaign.
But this year, the founders of the campaign have taken it a step forward.
They have joined hands with cycle lovers in the city to spread awareness about air pollution, other than the need to switch off lights and electrical appliances at home, office, shops, schools and colleges on December 11 for an hour between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm.
The organisers of Batti Bandh campaign have arranged a two-hour cycling session from Juhu to Marine Drive to spread awareness that riding a bicycle can control environment pollution.
"There was a huge traffic jam in China last month, because of the increase in number of vehicles. It's the same case in Mumbai as well, which will only worsen in near future.
People use cars or bikes for travelling a small distance even when they can easily use a bicycle," said Keith Menon, co-founder of Batti Bandh.
"We are also initiating commoners to ride bicycles from one place to another and save the environment."
Firoza Suresh, an advertising professional who has partnered with Batti Bandh for the initiative, said, "We are doing this to help and promote the ,essage of a green earth and control the pollution.
Over 100 cyclists from various walks ofl ife will participate to save environment."

7.35 pm: Bandstand via Holy Family Hospital
7.40 pm: U-turn from Bandstand, back via Lilavati Hospital to Mahim Church
7.55 pm: Mahim Church
8.10 pm: Siddhivinayak temple via Cadel Road
8.25 pm: Atria Mall
8.35 pm: Haji Ali
8.45 pm: Breach Candy
8.55 pm: Kemps Corner
9.10 pm: Not Just Jazz By the Bay
