"With the change in guard, the project will be delayed as the new CM will have to study the plans prepared by MMRDA and MSRDC," said a senior MMRDA official.
Transport expert Sudhir Badami said the project cost has doubled from Rs 4,000 crore in 2008.
He said the bridge will reduce truck traffic that drive to the Mumbai Port Trust daily, consequently reducing pollution and traffic.
Airport plan The new international airport that was expected to come up in Navi Mumbai will also be held up. CIDCO, which the CM heads, was to construct the project and a presentation was recently made to a committee appointed by the Union government. A decision was expected soon.
With the change in CM, it is likely that the government could scout for another airport site.
