In a first case of a suicide at the Bandra Worli Sea Link, a 30-year-old man jumped off the Sea Link in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A police constable spotted him loitering about the fence, carrying a bag. The man flung the bag into the sea, before taking the plunge himself.

The man's body was found ashore Dadar, defaced and eaten by fish, twelve hours later.

According to Senior Inspector AD Unde, Dadar (Shaitan Chowkie), an immediate alarm was raised after the man was seen on CCTV, moving suspiciously carrying a bag.

However, before the constable could approach the man, he jumped off the bridge.

The area was on high alert due to US President Barack Obama's visit.u00a0The cops are unable to ascertain the man's identity as his body was found in a bad shape and his face was mutilated.

"He appears to be from a good family," said Senior PI Unde of Dadar police station. "He was wearing a gold ring and branded clothes."

The Dadar police is now trying to locate the bag, which could throw more light on theu00a0 man's identity.

Also, the cops are trying to investigate what spurred the mysterious man to jump from the bridge without provocation.

While the body has been sent for postmortem, a team of officers are scrutinising the CCTV footage to solve the jigsaw puzzle.
