An international conference on 'Higher Education National Policy and Global Perspective' will be organised today at 6 pm by Member of Parliament Sanjay Nirupam.
It will be held at the Kandivli Education Society in New SVP School in Kandivli.
Minister for Human Resources and Development Kapil Sibal is expected to be the chief guest for the programme.
MP Sanjay Nirupam aims to use the conference as a platform to promote better standard of education
The conference will focus on the inadequacies and lack of innovation in the existing higher education system because of which it has failed to address the needs of the nation.
Eminent speakers from reputed Indian and foreign universities will deliberate on three broad areas pertaining to higher education viz. curriculum, professional education, and research and collaboration, dealing with the national and global perspectives.
The foreign speakers participating in the event are Dr Beheruz Sethna, president of West Georgia University (USA), Rosemary Gosling, director of External Study, London School of Economics and Dr Wong Yoke San, professor at National University of Singapore.
The Indian speakers participating in the conference include Dr B L Mungekar, MP (Rajya Sabha), ex-Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, Dr R K Malik, deputy director IIT Bombay, Dr M N Welling, pro-vice chancellor, NMIMS University, among others.
Through the conference Nirupam will also put forward to the HRD minister the issues and constraints faced by the educational institutions of Mumbai in providing accessible quality higher education.
