Two women working in a dance bar have filed a complaint against their employer for forcing them to solicit customers on New Year's Eve.

Priya and Nita Patil (names changed), two waitresses working at Arun Bar and restaurant alleged that their employer Ramesh Shetty was forcibly sending them out of town to solicit customers.

When they refused to comply, Shetty with a few others allegedly beat them up in the bar's green room.

The victims allege that the owner cornered them and claimed that they did not get enough earning to the bar and to get more money, they should comply and solicit customers.

"I have been working in the bar for the last four years and have been getting regular income for the bar. However, he wants more and hence he beat us up," said Priya.

She alleged that the owner was forcing them into prostitution. "We were horrified and rushed to the police station," she added.

Shetty, however, refuted the allegations and said that there was a quarrel in the bar but that was between the two women and the cashier. "We did not beat them up," said Shetty.

The Malad police has registered a case against Shetty, co-owner Jagdish Shetty and cashier Sachin. "We have recorded the victim's statements," said Senior Police Inspector Rajaram Prabhu, Malad police.
