As the Mumbai Crime Branch continues to build up the case against Javed Mozawala, his family is crying foul and has refuted all allegations being levelled against him.

"My husband is innocent and is being framed," said his wife Fatima. The Mumbai police arrested Mozawala on December 8 on suspicion of being an ISI mole spying for Pakistan.

According to the Crime Branch, Mozawala is an ISI spy and initial investigations indicated that Mozawala pursued a certificate course in civil aviation in ground handling and cargo loading and unloading, which officials found extremely suspicious given the fact that Mozawala was a visa agent.
Their suspicions, they claim, are further strengthened since Mozawala is a facilitator for persons wanting to go to Pakistan, and co-incidentally they have even recovered photographs of vital installations and diaries with sensitive information from Mozawala's possession.
Supporting the family's allegations, Mozawala's advocate Mubin Solkar, said "While in police custody, Mozawala was taken to prohibited areas in Lonavala where the police took photographs and asked him to accept all charges he was being accused of or face dire consequences."
Mozawala's relatives said that he worked as a clerk for the Haj Committee from 2004 to 2006 and then started his own tour and travel business.
"He facilitates visas and other arrangements for pilgrimage purposes. In fact, in 2008 he had applied for Haj quota, which the Indian government denied him," said Solkar.
Solkar agrees that Mozawala had visited Pakistan along with his family in 2005 to attend his cousin Danish Abdul Gani's marriage, and then again in 2006 when Danish had a baby, but claims that he has not indulged in any kind of espionage activity for anyone whosoever, and has no connection with Pakistan's ISI.
