The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also joined the probe to dig out other officials in the Pakistan High Commission who could be passing on sensitive information received from suspected ISI agent Javed Mozawala.

Ministry of Home Affairs has requested Ministry of Defence (MoD) to investigate how some of the sensitive numbers were leaked to Mozawala.

There are running background checks on all civilians working in sensitive defence establishments across the country.

NIA sources informed that most of the employees in Pakistani High Commission are initiated by ISI. They are trained to plant moles and use them to collect sensitive information related to the country's defence.

Apart from NIA and Research & Analysis Wing, the Military Intelligence is also planning to question Mozawala for more clues into the case.

Malls on Hitlist

The police have also recovered photos and diagrams of a couple of malls and market places in the Western suburbs.

Apart from vital installations, the photos of malls have led the police to believe that they could be on the terror target list.

Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Himanshu Roy admitted that he could not share too many details of the investigation, as the nature of case is extremely sensitive.

"The nature of the contact details of defence personnel that have been recovered from him is also being matched and traced," said a senior crime branch official, on condition of anonymity.

While scanning the documents recovered from his residence, the police also stumbled upon 87 coded telephone numbers belonging to defence establishments across the country.

Modi on target?
According to senior crime branch officials, Mozawala has confessed to collecting information on several politicians, including Gujarat CM Narendra Modi. The police are grilling him to find out the nature of information he compiled and his sources of information.
