Students of Rachna Sansad college will cycle to Bandra on Dec 18 to promote eco-friendly measures
In an attempt to promote a greener Mumbai, a group of students from Rachna Sansad Academy of Architecture are organising an eco-friendly cycle rally on December 18 from their college situated at Prabhadevi to Mehboob Studio in Bandra.
The students will be guided by professional cyclists who'll help them manoeuvre their way through traffic
Around 23 students with two professors have decided to take up an awareness campaign to fight pollution. The eco-conscious students decided to take up the cause after word spread through Facebook about the rally.
The programme is Kartik Rathod's, brainchild. The students will rent 30 cycles and two professional cyclists will guide them through traffic.
He said, "We are cycling to spread the message of a greener Mumbai. We are glad that our professors are supporting us and our principal has appreciated the move."
He further added that cycling was the need of the hour.
"We are far behind the European nations when it comes to promoting eco-friendly causes. We must start educating people on the advantages of cycling to their destinations."
Another student, Deep Dodiya, added, "Cycling not only keeps a check on pollution but also helps to keep fit. All of us will be pedalling our way to Bandra."
Congratulating the students, Ravindra Punde, principal of the college, said, "It is a good initiative that students have taken up. Unfortunately, I will not be present for the rally but my best wishes will be with them."
