In a case of prompt police work, the Bandra police on Friday nabbed two youths just a day after they had attempted to rob Fawziya Surve, sister of legendary actor Dilip Kumar.

The duo, Mohammad Mushtaq (19) and Mohammad Naushad (20) had earlier worked for 64-year-old Surve, helping out in domestic work during Diwali. Thereafter, they often visited her for more work.

The robbery attempt took place on Thursday when Surve was alone at her residence in Xavier House in Bandra.

The duo tricked her into letting them into her apartment under the pretext that their bracelet had gone missing in her apartment. But as soon as Surve allowed them inside, they gagged her and demanded money.

Surve agreed to meet their demands under the condition that they wait outside the house. As soon as the duo went outside, she shut the door and called the cops. However, the robbers had escaped by the time the police arrived.

After Surve lodged a police complaint, a search was carried out and the suspects were rounded up.
Surve refused to comment about the incident.

Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Anil Mule of Bandra police station said, "We were able to identify the accused as they had worked in Surve's house before.

We arrested them from Naupada in Bandra east under sections 393, 452 and 34 of Indian Penal Code."
