Now, Kripashankar Singh offers to vacate his Kalina seat to enable CM to get elected to the Assembly
After independent MLA Jaykumar Gore offered to vacate his assembly seat for Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, it is now Mumbai Regional Congress Committee President Kripashankar Singh who has offered to vacate his Kalina Assembly constituency seat to enable the CM to get elected to the Legislative Assembly.
As it is mandatory for the CM to get elected to either of the houses the Legislative Assembly or the Legislative Council the party will have to either ask a sitting MLA to vacate his seat or get him elected to the Legislative Council.

Though Gore has offered to vacate his seat, the party may have to do several calculations before choosing the seat.
For instance, Gore*s reputation and his past track record are not clean enough and his seat may not be very safe for the CM.
On the other hand, Singh*s fortunes are not exactly on the rise either, with reports of his alleged association with the Madhu Koda scam.
Party workers are speculating that Singh may be looking at a role in Delhi as the present CM is a member of the Rajya Sabha.

The seat would be vacant, as he would have to resign once he gets elected to the Maharashtra Legislature.
"He has offered to vacate his seat for the Chief Minister. However, there has been no discussion on this aspect as of now," said Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Manikrao Thakre.

"Yes, the CM has to get elected to either of the houses, but we are yet to have any kind of discussion with him or within the party on this issue."
