Senior Shiv Sena leaders are queuing up outside Sena Bhawan to get their wards in the recently formed party Yuva Sena.

The list boasts of Mayor Shraddha Jadhav, former MLAs Dagdu Dada Sakpal, and Gajanan Kirtikar, and also Pratap Sarnaik MLA from Thane, among others.

According to sources from the party, the senior leaders want their children to get in the Yuva Sena headed by Aditya Thackeray, grandson of Bal Thackeray. They feel that the party will be a good platform for their children's political launch.

Since its inception during the Dussehra rally in October at Shivaji Park, the Yuva Sena has gained a lot of publicity, be it positive or negative.

"Unlike the principal party, the Yuva Sena is raising issues that is attracting many people. It is primarily driven by the youth and hence the issues are allowing the common public to connect with the party," said a party leader.

"It is the popularity of the party that is making these top leaders want their sons and daughters to be a part of the Yuva Sena."

The party sources informed that Jadhav's son Pawan has been doing rounds of Parel and even the Konkan and has managed to get nearly 50,000 members for the Yuva Sena. Sakpal's son Jeetu has also managed to get members from the NCP to Yuva Sena.

Sarnaik's son Purvesh even accompanied Aditya to Delhi when he was rallying for a separate coach for students in the trains.

"Aditya himself postponed the formation of the core committee, as he wanted to see which people are actually working and who are the ones who only talk," said a close aide to Aditya. "The core committee is expected to be announced by the month end."

When asked if these politico sons are going to be a part of his party, Aditya replied, "People who work will be a part of the party. If they are second rung politicians, they can still be a part of the party but the posts will be given only on the basis of merit."

The Mayor said it is not like that she is trying hard for her son to get into the Yuva Sena. "We are doing our work and Aditya will decide whether Pawan should be a part of the Yuva Sena or not," said Jadhav.

Dagdu Dada Sakpal said that when he has spent all his life in Sena, even his son should join the same party. "In our party everything is decided by Sena supremo," said Sakpal.

Art on walls

The blank sidewalls of the Vasudev Balwant Phadke Subway (Metro Junction near St Xaviers College) will now host art works and photographs by young artists of Mumbai.

Yuva Sena moved a petition to the BMC, which got accepted on Wednesday.

The party claims that this move was carried out, as they want to encourage people to use the subway. The coloured walls will encourage them to do so.

BVS vs YS
According to sources, there is a threat to Bhartiya Vidyarthi Sena (BVS), as it has now lost ground since Yuva Sena has taken the whole agenda. There were rumours too that the student wing was going to be merged with the Yuva Sena.
