Living the 'good life' landed a criminal accused of robbery and murder behind bars.

Suresh Narsingh Kamble (27), an employee of ARK Aviation at Sahar International Airport, was arrested on Tuesday from Sahar for an airport robbery and two related murder cases.

Cops got a whiff of Suresh's involvement in the cases because of his flashy lifestyle and his expensive choices

Kamble apparently masterminded the robberies with his gang of hoodlums, of which two were also arrested along with him.

Police informers got a whiff of Kamble's involvement in these cases due to his flashy lifestyle. He allegedly spent over Rs 30,000 a month in bars and on bar girls.

Kamble worked with the missing luggage department which made his job easier. He usually targeted the luggage of wealthy people, according to crime branch sources.

As an employee at the airport, he kept a close watch on all packages and was well-informed about the content of each and every one of them.

Sources said that he stole mostly dollars, gold and electronics goods. All his loot was sold to Dhoorsingh Solanki (58), a scrap dealer residing in Sahar.

However, on August 18, 2010 Kamble killed Solanki. Police have yet to ascertain the reason for that murder.

The robbery

On May 25, 2009, around 11.30 am, Kamble with his three accomplices entered the Air India cargo booking area.

At the time, Pidilite Industries officials were booking six parcels of gold and silver coins weighing 145 kg and worth Rs 35 lakh.

The accused managed to flee with four parcels. They also fatally shot security guard S Bhosle who had tried to interrupt them.

According to a police informer, he later claimed to have seen four such suspicious parcel boxes in Kamble's house. On that basis, the police solved the robbery and murder case at Sahar International Airport.

Yesterday Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police (crime) told reporters about the gang's arrest.

Besides Kamble, the other accused were identified as Rajendra Ganseh Yelanna and Vijendra Suryabhan Kamble.
All of them are residents of nearby Sahar slum area. During the arrest, police seized two country-made revolvers, four cartridges along with a car, a motorbike and some ornaments.
