Since justice relies on concrete proof, a bunch of smart thieves decided that to get around the law, they'd destroy the proof itself. On Friday morning at 5 am in Zooni, a garment shop in Bandra, unidentified robbers stole cash amounting to Rs 92,000, and before leaving, whisked away the CCTV cameras that were fitted inside the store.

Owner Ramchandra Shobhani (84), opened shop on Friday morning and noticed the cash, CCTV cameras and the recording equipment missing.u00a0 After questioning his staff, he approached officers at the Bandra police station.

"It was shocking to see the money missing, and more so because they took the cameras that could have caught them in the act and helped the police track them down," said Shobhani.

A police officer from Bandra police station said, "The robbers were smarter than we thought. They whisked away the CCTVs as well."

"It's going to be tough to nab them since they have left no clues behind," he added.

When contacted, Senior Police Inspector Prakash George of Bandra police station refused to comment, and asked us to contact investigating officer and Sub Inspector Anil Mule. Mule refused to divulge any details either.

Locals say the police have questioned workers at a nearby building site regarding the crime.
