Dear Economy Airlines,
The next time I end up flying with you (which I might anyway do since I cannot afford any other kind of airlines currently), I would request you keep in mind several things when you repeat not once, but twice at the beginning and the end of the journey that you hoped my travel was peaceful.
Well, to be honest, it wasn't fine at all. In fact several times during my two and a half hour journey if we discounted the 45 minute wait at the runway because of early morning fog or air traffic congestion, I had a murderous urge to cause bodily harm to several individuals.
Let's start with my fellow traveler. While I fell dead to the world the moment I hit the window seat in the congested confines of the "cattle class", my fellow traveller did so too, but announced it to the world.
What started as heavy breathing soon changed into rhythmic snoring. Soon the snoring was loud enough to wake me up from my deep slumber. I tried not to pay attention, I tried to block the noise out mentally but I ended up tracing the highs and lows in his snoring patterns.
I tried listening to some music, puttingu00a0 fingers in my ear, but the snoring pervaded every barrier I placed in its path. I did think of giving him a vicious nudge or maybe poke him in the eye with my book, but public embarrassment prevented me from doing so.
Finally, I decided to call one of your staff to do the needful. I explained the situation but the he refused to nudge the man into wakefulness.
I requested him to change my seatu00a0which he did after much reluctance and offered me a cramped one between two people who showed their annoyance when I forced my way into the seat.
I was also woken up several times over by bawling babies, by a stewardess breathing down my neck saying, "Excuse me would you like to buy something from the food cart?"
After shooing off the food cart and its contents, I was praying desperately hoping to catch my forty winks before we landed, when you decided to make that announcement about people wanting to use the loo before landing. As if on cue, all the window passengers got up and so did mine, awaking me. I removed my seat belt and waited around till he decided to amble back after a pee.
I would like you to put yourself in my shoes and try to emerge out of this mess as bravely as I did.
Thanking you,
Yours Sincerely,
A Sleep Deprived Flyer
