Certain traditions might continue to prevail and be followed by the Mumbai Police, but in this day and age, they are faced with new challenges.
It might be 64 years since we gained Independence and the Mumbai Police got its first Indian police chief JS Bharucha, yet so much remains to be done. The levels of corruption have increased manifold.
There is a sense where one gets the impression that the force has to pander to a new social justice as well as new laws into the system. The same has to be said about the levels of political interference at every level.
How long this continues and how this will be rectified is something we'd all like.
