A student at the Riphah International University (RIU) in Rawalpindi shot dead the vice principal of the institution on Tuesday
RIU Vice Principal Brigadier (retired) Sanaullah was killed in the incident that took place on university campus, The Express Tribune reports.
The student allegedly responsible for the shooting has been arrested, while police have cordoned off the area and investigations are underway.
The RIU, located near Pakistan's capital city Islamabad, is chartered by the federal government.
It was established in 2002 by the Islamic International Medical College Trust (IIIMCT) and is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian welfare organisation registered with the Government of Pakistan.
