Amazon has acquired New York-based startup Fauna Robotics, the developer behind a compact humanoid robot called Sprout.

The deal brings a team of about 50 engineers into Amazon's Personal Robotics Group as the company looks to expand beyond warehouse automation into everyday living spaces.

The move signals a shift to smaller, interactive robots designed for homes rather than heavy-duty industrial work.
