China has produced an estimated 500 J-20 ‘Mighty Dragon' stealth fighter jets, cementing the aircraft's position as the backbone of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF), says defence analyst Andreas Rupprecht, cited in a report by The War Zone.

The development comes as India continues work on its indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), which is expected to take around a decade to enter operational service. While Russia's Su-57 may not offer the same level of stealth capability, it could emerge as India's only immediate option should an urgent need arise.
