Asserting that a "new chapter" is being drawn in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei said on Thursday that a new legal framework and management system will bring progress and comfort to all nations in the region, reported IANS.

Message Marks National Day of Persian Gulf

In a message issued on the occasion of the National Day of the Persian Gulf, Khamenei highlighted the "sacrifices" made by Iran for the region's independence and its efforts in confronting foreign powers, calling the Islamic Revolution a "turning point" in this resistance, reported IANS.

Criticism of Western Presence in Region

Khamenei alleged that the Persian Gulf has historically attracted foreign interference, particularly from European and American powers. He said repeated invasions and interventions have led to insecurity, damage, and threats for regional countries, reported IANS.

New Legal Framework Promises Economic Gains

"The new legal framework and management system for the Strait of Hormuz will advance comfort and development for all the region's nations, and its economic benefits will bring joy to the nation," he said.

Vision of a ‘Future Without America'

Emphasising regional unity, Khamenei said the future of the Persian Gulf would be "bright" and free of American influence, focusing instead on peace, progress, and prosperity for neighbouring countries, reported IANS.

Regional Unity Over Foreign Influence

"We, the peoples and neighbours of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, share a common destiny," he said, adding that foreign powers "have no rightful place" in the region.

Strategic Technologies Declared National Assets

Khamenei stated that Iran considers nuclear, missile, nano, and biotechnology as key national assets, equating their importance with territorial sovereignty and pledging to safeguard them, reported IANS.

Iran Vows to Secure Key Waterway

He further asserted that Iran would ensure security in the Persian Gulf and prevent what he described as hostile exploitation of the Strait of Hormuz.

US Presence Called ‘Main Cause' of Insecurity

Khamenei claimed that the US military presence in the region is the primary cause of instability, arguing that American bases cannot guarantee even their own safety, let alone that of allies, reported IANS.

Emphasis on Regional Prosperity

He concluded by reiterating that the future of the Persian Gulf lies in regional cooperation aimed at ensuring progress, stability, and prosperity for its people.
