Nepal’s first modern tunnel road opens to public

Nepal's first modern road tunnel, the Nagdhunga passage, connecting Kathmandu to other districts, was opened to the public on Monday, allowing small private vehicles to use the tunnel road on a trial basis.

Vehicles carrying up to nine passengers have been allowed to use the tunnel, which was previously limited to emergency services only. Inaugurated on July 27, the 2.688-km tunnel road was built with financial and technical assistance from Japan.
