Pikachu becomes new space ambassador

Pikachu is one of Earth's newest outer space ambassadors. The European Pikachu is one of Earth's newest space ambassadors, thanks to a partnership between the European Space Agency (ESA) and The Pokémon Company International for World Space Week 2026.

To mark the collaboration, a Pikachu toy spent 67 days aboard the International Space Station, completing 1040 orbits around Earth. Pikachu floated alongside seven human astronauts, including ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot, who launched on SpaceX's Crew-12 mission.
