Priest killed after wall-mounted crucifix falls on his head during evening Mass in Ecuador

A Roman Catholic priest, Father Patricio Alfredo Sanchez Molinari, 53, died after a heavy crucifix detached from a wall and struck his head during a livestreamed evening Mass on Saturday.

The incident occurred at Perpetuo Socorro Church in southwestern Ecuador, under the Archdiocese of Guayaquil.

Worshippers called for help as the broadcast continued. Sanchez belonged to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.
