Researchers have developed a purple fabric that reflects nearly 88 per cent of solar radiation and emits 96.4 per cent of mid-infrared heat into space.
Made with microscopic fibers containing zinc oxide nanoparticles and a metal-organic framework, it stayed up to 6.2°C cooler than standard purple cotton in tests.
By reflecting green light - typically a major source of heat absorption - this breakthrough enables high-performance passive cooling without relying solely on white textiles.
