Xiaomi shared that its YU7 GT electric performance SUV is the first car to set an automated lap record at Germany's Nürburgring Nordschleife.

During recent tests at the well-known track, the SUV completed a full lap on its own, without any human input.

Engineers used the Nürburgring run to set a standard for future software updates. The Nürburgring Nordschleife is known as one of the hardest tracks in the car industry.

Its mix of fast straight sections, steep hills, and tricky corners makes it a great place to test both how a car handles and how its software performs.

In the test, the YU7 GT finished the lap in 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds.
