He said India’s development partnership with Pacific Island countries has expanded through two key frameworks — the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) and the India-UN Development Partnership Fund
Through these initiatives, India has undertaken projects focused on strengthening livelihoods, building capacity and promoting sustainable development
Jaishankar highlighted India’s ongoing work to procure and supply sea ambulances to Pacific Island nations
He said 12 member states had requested a total of 20 sea ambulances, with the procurement process currently underway in India. According to Jaishankar, India expects to be in a position to deliver the ambulances by March 2027
The External Affairs Minister also proposed developing customised capacity-building programmes for Pacific Island countries based on their individual priorities.
