During the state dinner, the British monarch and the US President hailed their countries' longstanding ties. Charles echoed the tone of his earlier speech to Congress in which he urged London and Washington to stick together, without directly mentioning the tensions over the US-Israeli war with Tehran

However, Trump told King Charles and other guests at a state dinner Tuesday that Iran has been "militarily defeated," in his first public comments on the sensitive topic during the ongoing royal visit. "We have militarily defeated that particular opponent," Trump said at the White House dinner, adding: "Charles agrees with me even more than I do -- we're never going to let that opponent have a nuclear weapon"

The two leaders also roasted each other. Giving President Trump a taste of his own medicine, King Charles III said that without the British, Americans would be speaking French. "You recently commented, Mr. President, that if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Dare I say that, if it wasn't for us, you'd be speaking French," Charles quipped

Charles presented the president with the bell from the British submarine HMS Trump, which was launched in 1944 during World War II. "May it stand as a testimony to our nations' shared history and shining future. And should you ever need to get hold of us, well, just give us a ring," the king said to applause.
