Replying to Somerset's 425-3 declared, Gautam Gambhir (21) and Abhinav Mukund (18) raced along to 32-0 inside 5 overs until Willoughby struck. Rahul Dravid (17) and Sachin Tendulkar (26) steadied the ship until Dravid became Willoughby's third victim.

Tendulkar was caught behind off 19-year old pacer Craig Meschede soon after Yuvraj Singh was trapped lbw. Wriddhiman Saha was caught behind off Peter Trego for a duck.

Earlier, India had to wait for three hours before taking the field due to rain. When play resumed, Arul Suppiah took his score to 156.
