Cricketers -- past and present -- took to social media on Monday to congratulate the Virat Kohli-led Team India for its crushing win over the West Indies in the opening Test of the four-match series in Antigua


Cricketers -- past and present -- took to social media on Monday to congratulate the Virat Kohli-led Team India for its crushing win over the West Indies in the opening Test of the four-match series in Antigua.

India defeated the hosts by an innings and 92 runs in the first Test, in what was new head coach Anil Kumble's first assignment.

Riding on Kohli's 200 and Ashwin's 113, India amassed 566 for 8 declared in the first innings and then dismissed the West Indies for 243 and 231 in first and second innings respectively.

Iconic batsman Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to congratulate Kohli, Kumble and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who notched up a seven-wicket haul to set up India's biggest margin of victory outside the sub-continent.

Kumble also took to Twitter to praise the team and wanted the boys to continue the winning momentum.

India discard Irfan Pathan tweeted his wishes and then praised the bowlign display by pacers Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav, who took together took eight wickets to script the Windies collapse in the first innings.

Former India skipper and legendary orthodox left-arm offie Bishan Singh Bedi expressed the hope that the team crushed the hosts 4-0 and that too all of them by an innings.

Karnataka batsman Robin Uthappa, meanwhile, congratulated Kohli on the win.
