Essex police to probe Kaneria

Essex police are all set to question Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria over a cricket betting scandal. But the leggie on Saturday rejected the reports. The Sun reported on Saturday that Kaneria and another Essex player are to be probed following incidents in one-day matches last summer. Kaneria is missing the start of the season with his County. Essex police said that they had been asked to investigate "match irregularities" but refused to elaborate. Essex County Cricket Club said that they would make no comment until the investigation has been concluded. Kaneria, meanwhile insisted he has always played his cricket honestly.
