Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado has vowed that he will prove a success at White Hart Lane after making an underwhelming start to his career in English football.

The 28-year-old Spain international signed from Valencia for a reported fee of around £26 million ($42.6 million, 31.4 million euros) in August, but he has failed to hit the heights so far.

Having scored only three times from open play in all competitions, with a further three goals coming from penalties, he admits that there is room for improvement.

Asked if he was satisfied with his goal return, Soldado told Tuesday's edition of British newspaper The Daily Telegraph: "No. Definitely not. Much less. A lot of my goals have come from the penalty spot."

He added: "I want to score more goals than I am doing at the moment. That is why they signed me. I have been doing it all my career. I haven't done so far here, but I am convinced I will get there."

Soldado was speaking ahead of his side's trip to Fulham today, when Andre Villas-Boas's side will be looking for a first win in five Premier League matches.u00a0
