India's batting legend Sachin Tendulkar was touched by the story of war veteran and Group Captain (Retd) in the Air Force, Dilip Parulkar, who tried to escape from a prisoner of war camp in Pakistan in 1971.

The Bharat Ratna awardee, who was sharing the stage with national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand said, "Gopi, I and other sportspersons represent the nation, but you (soldiers) protect the nation," Tendulkar said while unveiling Parulkar's autobiography 'Veerbharari'' in Marathi at a city hotel on Monday night.

"This book is a special book. I have played cricket in Pakistan but this innings played by Captain Parulkar will inspire many sportspersons to go out there and win matches," Tendulkar added.
