Star batsman Rahul Dravid was struck on the jaw while avoiding a bouncer from paceman Shahadat Hossain, bowling with the second new ball. Dravid who was batting solidly at 111 was rushed to a hospital nearby and after initial examination it was ascertained that the middle order batsman had suffered a few fractures but was stable.
"Dravid was struck by a ball on the side of his face today,"u00a0 India team manager and former off-spinner Arshad Ayub said.
"He was taken to the hospital and a fracture was detected.
He is unlikely to participate in the rest of the match."
Asked whether Dravid will return to India or stay back, Ayub said, "Nothing has been decided yet. We will take a call on that tomorrow."
Dravid had hit 12 fours in his 188-ball knock.
