Misbah-ul-Haq retained as skipper

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that senior batsman Misbah-ul-Haq will continue to lead Pakistan in the upcoming Test and one-day series against South Africa.


According to PCB sources, the 38-year-old batsman had the board's backing on the issue. PCB officials had reportedly told the selection panel to retain Misbah as the skipper in both the formats while Mohammad Hafeez will continue to lead in the Twenty20s.u00a0

Pakistan will depart for South Africa on January 20 for three Tests, five one-dayers and two T20 matches. "Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf is happy with the performance of Misbah and the way he led the team to the one-day series win in India," a source told PTI yesterday.

The Squad: Misbah-ul Haq (cap), Mohd Hafeez, Azhar Ali, Nasir Jamshed, Asad Shafiq, Younis Khan, Mohd Irfan, Sarfraz Ahmed, Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, Ehsan Adil, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman, Haris Sohail, Faisal Iqbal, Taufiq Umar.
