Suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi has submitted his reply to the third showcause notice by the Indian cricket board on the alleged irregularities in the cash-rich League. Modi was charged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with irregularities in the sale of cinema rights and mid-over ads for this year's third edition of the IPL.
Modi's lawyer, Mehmood Abdi, said that the reply was submitted to the board's headquarters yesterday. "It's a matter of routine internal procedure and record. A mountain has been made out of a molehill," Abdi told reporters.
Modi has already replied to separate BCCI charges of financial irregularities and independent functioning and another charge of trying to set up a rebel Twenty20 league in England. A three-member panel comprising BCCI president Shashank Manohar, Board vice president Arun Jaitley and interim IPL chairman Chirayu Amin, will go through the reply.
